As a director, Dan has received critical acclaim for both his theatre and film productions, many of which he also wrote. He made his directorial debut with the art film BIRD BOY (starring Stella Stocker). He collaborated with British playwright Kieron Barry in bringing NUMBERS to the Midtown International Theatre Festival (and to high school classrooms where Dan teaches). Dan's MITF production was featured in Theatre World, Vol. 66, and his film adaptation of NUMBERS, featuring four of his Drama Club students, is currently on the festival circuit. Dan's film DICK AND JANE has screened as an Official Selection at half a dozen different international film festivals, including Texas Ultimate Shorts, where it won Best Short in its category. Other projects written and directed by Dan include: BEHIND A ROLLING BALL, BLACKACRE, and BLUE SKY. He apparently likes titles that begin with the letter "B".
